Dulce Misterio is one of our newest suppliers, coming from a completely different background than most other specialty growers. With the change in world order brought on by the pandemic, his company went bankrupt in 2020 and he suddenly had the most precious resource available to him - time. He decided to fulfill his lifelong dream: to produce the best Colombian fine coffee.
In 2016, he started looking for a farm that would meet his requirements - especially those related to soil characteristics and altitude. In 2019, he bought a farm near Neira (Caldas) that exceeded his expectations - hence the name of his business: Dulce Misterio (Sweet Secret).
The coffee is only harvested at optimum maturity. He has a trained team working with him on the farm to help him pick all year round. The coffee is sorted by hand, with immature coffee set aside, which is then processed separately. The coffee is then washed and loaded into plastic tanks, where the cherries are fermented for 48 hours. During the drying phase, variables such as temperature, which must not fall below 38 °C, and humidity, which is monitored by a person who measures the coffee several hours a day using an electronic hygrometer.

The Damo station works closely with local farmers. During the labour-intensive coffee harvesting season from December to February, the station employs more than 100 people, bringing much-needed income to the community. It pays farmers 20-30% higher prices than average, recognising the value of their hard work.
Following traditional practices, coffee is grown organically under the shade of native trees. Once the cherries are stripped of their skins, they are fermented for 48 to 72 hours in tanks. After washing, it is dried for 12 to 15 days on raised African beds.
In addition to producing excellent coffee, last year the Damo station built 5 rural schools to offer coffee education to young people (processing, seedling distribution, etc.).
